Serenity Prayer : Living one day at a time

Dear Friends,

Thanks for stopping by!

Thank God for seeing us through another week. It's so good to be reminded on every Thursday to count my blessings and remember to give thanks and praise to God.

♥ I thank God that He gives me strength and grace sufficient for each day. Sometimes when I think of all the things I think I should do or need to do, and wonder how I am going to face the challenges ahead, it can rather overwhelming! I need to constantly remind myself to take just one day at a time and pace myself moderately. And no matter how badly I have done the previous day or what I have failed to accomplish, each day is a new beginning for me to walk with our Lord by His grace and strength.

My friend, Marja Bergen, wrote the following that really encourage and help me. Hope this quote will encourage you too as you go through all the challenges in your various callings, and through all the changing scenes in life.

"Each new day brings an opportunity to pick myself up
and move ahead. It's a fresh start, a clean slate.
The past is history.
Nothing that happened yesterday is so bad
that I can't leave it behind and,
at least for today, look to what is ahead.
I don't want to look way out to the distant future.
The next few hours are all that matter now."

Deuteronomy 33:25 " thy days, so shall thy strength be."

♥ I thank God for the privilege of prayers that I can call upon the Lord daily. A friend of mine sent me this lovely Serenity Prayer. I need the grace from God to accept the things that I cannot change and the courage to change the things I can, and most of all the wisdom to do so! I need grace to live one day at a time and trust in the Lord fully no matter what happens.

Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.

Hi ya Nancie,

So frustrating. I posted a comment, Blogger asked my username and password and wouldn't accept what I typed in. Then I lost my comment.

Anyway, just very happy to look in on you. And I feel honoured to have you quoting me. So neat, girl.

Love you. Guess I should post the things I'm grateful for as well, eh? But it's only Wednesday here in Vancouver. I hope to work on it.

Now I will try to send this again.

Hi Nancie, bless you for being such a comfort and encouragement to all of us. I feel very encouraged after reading this post. One day at a time...I need to remember that too :-)

I've always loved the Serenity Prayer too. It's good to be refreshed by it here!

Was just listening to the song you posted in your previous post "Day by Day". Brings such peace to one's soul, doesn't it? :-)

Love and big hug from me and loving wags and licks from Happy.

Nancie, you have such a thankful heart. I have to say that often I need to take my day moment by moment. I often fail in my attempts to abide in Christ. That old flesh seems to get in the way all too often. But I was reminded of the verse about "His mercies are new every morning; great is His faithfulness."

I'm so grateful that He is so gracious and forgiving. We can mess up and the next day start again.

I love what you did with the Serenity Prayer. YOu are quite creative!

Blessings and love,

Hi Sandy,

I love Psalm 95:1-2 which you shared on your TT post. It is such a precious reminder to give thanks to God and sing praises unto Him. God always works in His mysterious and wonderful ways for us! Hi Becky,

Thanks for your visit and encouragements. You are always very encouraging. Thanks for being apart of my blogging life too.

Thank God for blessing you in so many ways! Husbands are so precious, aren't they :) Glad you have a husband who can do just about anything. It's sad to know about the new family whose girls hit their grandmother. That is very terrible. Hope they will realize their mistakes and not do it away. I am praying for your dear mother. May the Lord restore her speedily. I like the quote you shared. Very meaningful. Thanks for sharing the fond memories with us. Thank God for giving you fond memories of time with loved ones. Blessings to you. May you have a great weekend too.

Hi Rita,

Thanks for your visit. I just read your TT post. I can understand how you feel. I am also learning that I need to wake up praising God for another day. Sometimes I feel very low when I wake up but when I try to write my Thankful Thursday post then I feel so much better. Spending time with God also is so precious to me and really makes a difference to my daily life.

Blessed birthday to your mum! Thank God for preserving her and she can celebrate her 79th birthday with you. Take care and have a blessed weekend!
